Then you shall call, and the Lord will answer; you shall cry, and He will say, ‘Here I am.’ “If you take away the yoke from your midst, the pointing of the finger, and speaking wickedness, if you extend your soul to the hungry and satisfy the afflicted soul, then your light shall dawn in the darkness, and your darkness shall be as the noonday. The Lord will guide you continually, and satisfy your soul in drought, and strengthen your bones; you shall be like a watered garden, and like a spring of water, whose waters do not fail. Those from among you shall build the old waste places; you shall raise up the foundations of many generations; and you shall be called the Repairer of the Breach, the Restorer of Streets to Dwell In. (Isaiah 58:9-12 – NKJV).

There is not one Sunday I go to church, and those who are leading the service don’t mention that there is a lot of negative going on in society. This may be true, but my philosophy is that if you focus on everything that is going wrong, you will empower it and feed it with the energy that vibrates from your being through thought and speech, and the darkness will just keep on spreading. If the light of Christ within you is to spread throughout the very fabric of our society, and it will, we need to re-focus our creative faculties to see what God is doing, what His heart is for the area of influence where we have been planted, and what His dream is for our communities, family, places of employment, etc.

I believe in the supernatural. I believe that a wave of miracles, signs and wonders is coming to Jamaica, and a glorious church will arise to do the same works Jesus did, and even greater things. I believe there will be a restoration of spiritual sight, dreams, visions, insight, revelation and an emergence of the five-fold ministry (Apostles, Prophets, Evangelist, Teacher, Pastor) in even the most unlikely congregations. I believe there will be an increase in open visions, and out of body experiences, where people will be taken to heaven and back: the true rapture of the church. But I also believe that repairing the breaches in our society will call for much more than just a supernatural move, more than just miracles, signs and wonders.

For the glory of God to cover to earth, it must first consume the entire being of the one who carries the glory, then seep out into every sphere of society, that is, the movie theaters, bars, supermarkets, fast food restaurants, fine dining restaurants, homes, communities, parliament, kings house, spa, hotel/resorts, small and large places of business, government institutions, schools, colleges, bathrooms, shops, airplanes, boats/ferries/cruise ships, etc. Practically anywhere your feet touches, there is a need for the manifestation of the glory of God. This is more than miracles or gathering in a church building on a particular day. The conduit for the glory of God is you. You are the miracle that the world is waiting on.

We sometimes think that in order to be effective as a believer in this world, we must be able to put on a supernatural show, prophecy, preach a sermon that provokes people to respond, heal the sick, raise the dead, cast out demons, etc. I believe in all that, but we must have a proper perspective of who we are. The gifts and talents we have, the career we worked hard to achieve, a simple touch or a gesture of love and good extended to someone we meet along the way are all seeds of God’s manifested glory. The real power that we have is love, and there is no one more powerful in heaven or on earth than the one who has learned to love.

When we love our difficult bosses, or the people we have to work with; when we love our neighbor; our children and the children who belong to others; when we love those we meet as we go through our days; we begin to repair the breach within our societies, and display God’s glory at the highest possible level. All the gifts of the Spirit, the supernatural move of God, our ability to put on a miraculous show, speak prophetically, sing like an angel, lead like John Maxwell, is of very little value to anyone, if we do not function from a place of love. Paul calls it the more excellent way.

Sometimes we try to emulate others, thinking we need to be like them to be counted in God’s kingdom, but this is a false premise that breeds only frustration and disappointment. God designed you specifically and uniquely for a specific and unique purpose. What God has called you to do can only be done by you, because it requires your specific DNA and fingerprint. Nobody else has access to the doors that was designed for you. Nobody else can open them but you. You don’t need to be jealous or covet another person’s ministry. Don’t focus on what God has put inside another; try to tap into what God has specifically placed inside you, and you will be great in the kingdom of God. Stop fighting the darkness you see around you. You are a bearer of light and glory. Light has no place fighting darkness; light just needs to show up, and darkness immediately disappears. This is the influence you have in the world, so be you and be the best you that you can be, for this is the avenue by which you will experience even greater versions of yourself, and become a repairer of the breach.
